January 28th is the official start date of the 2019 tax season! Ask your employer when you might expect to receive your W2 or 1099, then make your appointment at Pelican to get this year's taxes taken care of. Remember, we can always get your return written up using your last paystub if you don't have your W2 in time for your scheduled appointment. Once you get your W2, you can simply send it to us then stop by to sign your return at your convenience.
The shutdown will not affect getting your return filed, although it will likely delay refunds - but as always, the sooner your return is filed the sooner your refund will be on its way! Additionally, Pelican files all eligible tax returns electronically - which helps get your refund to you faster. Not quick enough? The shutdown has also not affected any actions on your part as a tax-paying citizen. The deadline is still April 15th. We still have appointments available all the way up to that date, so book your appointment online or stop by as a walk-in and we will get you taken care of!
