Did you ever have a dream? A goal? A desire to contribute something meaningful to this great, big world? Ivy does. Ivy dreams of helping the less fortunate. But, how can one eight-year-old child make that much of a difference?
Ivy has a chance at Pelican. You might have already met little Ivy - in 2020, she was selling pictures, and in 2021 she may have chased you out of the office trying to hand you a Pelican business card. Lately, she has taken to the hobby of finding spare items around the office to create and build items that the local homeless population might use - a paint roller extension pole as a walking stick; arranging extra table leafs into a bed or bench; finding painting rags to sew together to make a blanket. Luckily, we've convinced her that she could help others without raiding Pelican's closet.
Starting in March 2021, Ivy will be accepting donations throughout the year that will go towards the Homeless Alliance and Positive Tomorrows. Both organizations strive to lift up those who are trying to improve their situation.

"The Homeless Alliance operates several housing programs for families with children, coordinates a community effort to house veterans and people who are chronically homeless, operates the IT infrastructure used by homeless-serving agencies in central Oklahoma, and publishes The Curbside Chronicle, a magazine that provides a voice and legitimate source of income for people who are homeless."
Positive Tomorrows: "As Oklahoma's only elementary school and social services specifically for children and families experiencing homelessness, we give kids stability and a quality education while their parents get the support they need to create a better life."
Although gently used items are appreciated, new and unused donations are preferred - not only is this more sanitary and safer for the recipients, but it also gives them the most life out of the items before they have to be replaced, which is a critical consideration for those who have limited funds. All items donated will be delivered to either Positive Tomorrows or the Homeless Alliance. If you have a desire to donate to one of these organizations specifically, simply label the item with the name of the organization that you would like to receive it.
Ivy will also be accepting monetary donations made by cash or check in our office. Credit card donations can be made through Venmo at @AddieEubanks or via Paypal here through March 24th, 2021 or anytime at paypal.me/okcivy. Monetary donations will be split 45% each to The Homeless Alliance and Positive Tomorrows, and 10% will go to Ivy's Space Camp fund.
As a tax firm, we feel that you should know that these donations are not tax-deductible, as Ivy is an eight-year-old kid and not a 501c(3) organization.
