Which Appointment Should I Choose?

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

So you made it to our booking page, and you see a few options. Which appointment is right for you? It all depends on what documents you have.

$85+

Choose this option if you have W2's or retirement for yourself or you and your spouse and neither of you receive self-employment income (Uber, contractor, hair stylist, rental property, etc). Some other documents you might have are a mortgage interest statement, student tax form or tuition statement, or maybe a few investments or annuities. A list of common documents can be found here.

This option is also for taxpayers with children - however, if you have a large family (think Gosselin or Duggar), then please be sure to have all of your children's information and documents ready to go so that we can get it all done within your appointment slot. Remember, you must have the social security number, birthdate, and a document showing proof of residency for each child. Click here for additional documents you might need to bring.

Dependents that earn their own money must file separate tax returns - but Pelican can usually handle a minor dependent tax return during the same appointment as their parent/s. Minor dependents will receive a service fee discount if the return is done in the same appointment as their parent/s.

Enterprising Pelican

$150+

Did you perform work and receive something that isn't a W2?

Are you a hairstylist, realtor, small farmer, or Lyft driver, or other contractor?

Do you sell Avon, Mary Kay, LuLaRoe, or other products on your own?

Maybe you have a rental property?

Is your registered business required to file a separate tax return?

Any money you received as payment for your work, and was not recorded on a W2 statement is likely to be considered self-employment income. You will need to bring a Profit and Loss statement, which is just a fancy paper that shows how much money your business made and how the money was spent.

Does bookkeeping sound daunting? You can use our free Bookkeeping Organizer to create your profit and loss sheet, or you can talk to us about our bookkeeping service.
